One of the most exciting experiences I’ve been a part of was the US Navy’s Pacific Partnership humanitarian aid mission in the summer of 2009. I was able to work on a variety of hands-on WASH related projects and worked with a range of partners from countries all over the world. Some of the most exciting projects were in the Solomon Islands and Kiribati working with US Public Health Service officers on environmental health issues arising from lack of appropriate WASH infrastructure.

After graduating in 2009 from UVa, I worked in Washington, DC for two years at an engineering consulting firm. In addition to my work at the Water Institute, I’ve been involved in a variety of projects and research groups at UNC including work with the Institute for the Environment on watershed-related issues in North Carolina and also working on information visualization and public health informatics projects in the School of Information and Library Sciences. I also worked at World Vision in Ghana during the summer of 2012 conducting research for my thesis.
